There are a few ways you can search for contacts by industry:

  • Using the Industry Keywords field and/or
  • Using the Company (advanced) window to select industries or classification codes

Industry Keywords

Type in keywords for the industry you’d like to target. Try to use words or phrases that describe the products and services offered by the company.

ZoomInfo will include similar industries by default, but it’s beneficial to search a variety of terms separated by OR to broaden your search. For example, cloud OR virtualization.

Tip: If you find that you’re getting unexpected results, try using quotation marks around keywords to treat them as an exact phrase. For example, “online services” may give you better results than online services.

Industry Categories and Classification Codes

Open the Company (advanced) window and check off the industries you desire from our list. Once you make a selection, ZoomInfo will find companies that match your selection through a comprehensive system of keywords and context.

  • Click the arrow to the left of each category for even more specific industries
  • Check off multiple industries to broaden your search results
  • Click the blue arrow under the scroll bar to expand the viewable area

Classification Codes

You can also search using SIC and NAICS codes. For example, if you were looking for companies in food distribution, you could type 5141 into the search field. If you want to search multiple codes at a time, separate each with the word OR. For example, 5141 OR 5142 OR 5144.

Note: Only 4 digit SIC codes are supported.
