Preview Files
Preview files will allow you to see what your list of contacts or companies looks like and gives you the ability to remove contacts or companies prior to spending data credits. You can include preview files when exporting to Excel in Contact Search and Target Accounts.
Including a Preview File
To include a Preview File:
- Build a list of 500,000 or fewer contacts
- Individually select contacts/companies or simply click Export in the top navigation bar and select Excel
- Name your List and check the box next to 'Include preview file', add any suppression lists or limits and click Export.
- Your file will begin processing and you'll receive a notification via email when it's done.
Note: You can include a preview file and export as long as the results in the file are within 150% of the data credits you have remaining. Before you can redeem a list that's more than the amount of data credits you have, you'll need to remove contacts from the preview file and upload.
Viewing a Preview File
To view a Preview File:
- Once the list is processed, go to My Lists (exported Target Account lists can also found in Target Accounts)
- Find your list and click the ... icon under Actions and select Download Preview File
- A CSV file will download as the list name

Removing Contacts on Preview File
- Sort your list by one of the provided fields to easily identify contacts you want to remove. To do this, right-click in any cell in that column and click Sort > From A to Z
- Delete the rows of the contacts you wish to remove by highlighting the rows on the left-hand side, right-clicking, and selecting Delete
Note: make sure to delete the entire row
You can also remove contacts by adjusting the Include column; for any contact you no longer wish to purchase you can simply replace Y with N
- Save the file as a CSV
- Go to My Lists and click Upload a List (CSV), name the list and submit
- Once finished processing, you can redeem the final list in My Lists, the final list name will be the list name_previewed
